Baker Boy

Baker Boy — the “Fresh Prince of Arnhem Land” turned “King” — is one of Australia’s most electrifying performers. A proud Yolŋu man from Milingimbi and Maningrida in North-East Arnhem Land, Danzal Baker OAM has risen from breakout single Cloud 9 (2017) to become a cultural powerhouse. His debut album Gela (2021) debuted at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart, delivered five ARIA Awards including Album of the Year, and cemented him as a voice of optimism, culture and unstoppable groove.

With over 90 million global streams, Baker Boy blends Yolŋu Matha, English and Burarra with hip-hop swagger, infectious hooks and that famous “million dollar smile.” A recipient of multiple National Indigenous Music Awards and a festival favourite, he’s performed everywhere from Splendour in the Grass to New York’s SummerStage, lit up the 2025 AFL Grand Final and closed the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

In 2024, a portrait of him won the Archibald Prize’s Packing Room Prize — proof that Baker Boy’s reign has only just begun.
